Coaching the forward press without losing balance

A sample coaching note on trigger movements for club batters facing seam in early-season conditions.

A useful forward press is a preparation, not a commitment. It should help the batter move decisively without tipping their weight too early.

Three cues, one session: head still at release, weight loaded through the middle of the foot, and a press small enough that the back leg can still recover.

Finish with six leave-or-play calls from a shortened length, rewarding balance and a still head rather than bat speed.
