WISDEN × iPublisher
Mobile app concept
The proposition
Bring Wisden's journalism, cricket coverage, short videos and personalised alerts into one branded app. Give readers a reason to return directly, and build a stronger relationship beyond a single search visit.
Inside this concept
A branded editorial home, story pages, and routes into Magazine and Almanack, alongside the existing magazine offer.
Scores, match commentary, scorecards, graphs, fall of wickets and partnerships, plus team and competition hubs with statistics.
A swipeable short-video feed, as demonstrated in the app. Bring Wisden's social posts and videos into the experience through agreed content connections.
Favourite teams and a dedicated You area for saved stories, saved clips and preferences. A more relevant experience helps build reader loyalty over time.
Optional news notifications and favourite-team match alerts, with controls for match starts, wickets and results. Readers decide what reaches them.
Saved content, podcasts, photos and quizzes give readers reasons to return between matches, making Wisden part of their daily cricket routine.
Why an app, why now
AI-generated answers are changing how people use Google. When a search page answers the question itself, there may be less reason to click through to a publisher. Pew Research Center's 2025 US browsing study found lower click-through to traditional results when an AI summary appeared. It is industry context, not a measurement of Wisden's traffic.
While search still brings new readers to Wisden, use that opportunity to invite them into the app and earn a direct, ongoing relationship.
An app gives readers a place on their home screen to return for the teams, stories and matches they care about. Useful notifications, personalised content and saved favourites can help turn occasional visitors into loyal readers, reducing reliance on repeated discovery through Google or social feeds.

A useful app can deepen engagement and create more revenue opportunities across Wisden's advertising, sponsorship and subscription offers.
iPublisher covers a wide range of international cricket and domestic and local events around the world. This breadth can support a Wisden experience that serves fans beyond the biggest fixtures, with coverage selected around Wisden's audience priorities.
The production scope would confirm the competitions, available data detail and rights required for the app.
We can include social media content, including videos, in the branded app experience. Wisden's posts, interviews and short-form clips can sit alongside its editorial coverage, using authorised content and supported platform connections.
The swipeable Video tab demonstrates the viewing experience with sample cricket practice footage. Wisden's own or licensed videos can take its place in the production app.

Built and operated by iPublisher
iPublisher provides the SaaS app service, branding and setup, hosting, maintenance and ongoing development within an agreed monthly service.
Custom app options can be scoped where required. Content connections, cricket coverage, video sources, notification delivery, subscriber access and launch requirements would be agreed together before delivery.
From concept to a conversation
Interactive concept using sample editorial, sample cricket data and demonstration video clips. Saved content, favourite teams and alert choices demonstrate the experience locally. Live feeds, push notifications, social integrations, subscriber services and revenue features would be connected and scoped for production.
